Yana Cocha Animal Rescue Center, named after the large lagoon of this color, is home to caimans and other species that unfortunately can no longer return home. They remain in the biopark under the supervision of professionals dedicated with love and passion to providing them with a better quality of life through friendly facilities.
We are dedicated to the rescue, protection, and conservation of wildlife species that have fallen victim to illegal trafficking in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Since 2006, Yana Cocha has worked jointly with the Ecuadorian Ministry of the Environment and other organizations responsible for wildlife control. More than 250 specimens are under the care of specialists, biologists, and veterinarians, who are responsible for the daily care of small felines, primates, macaws, toucans, turtles, caimans, and other species that are traded or imprisoned in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
In addition to Yana Cocha, the Foundation also has the Tamandua Ecological Reserve, which is a fundamental pillar for research, rehabilitation, and release of Amazonian wildlife.
